Under the Operation Yewtree, UK police have again arrested the hugely famous multi-talented Rolf Harris, the much-awarded Australian entertainer. Bailed until next month, he is on suspicion, after some six months of Yewtree investigations, of sexual offences.
I would like to see at least some media and/or police investigators to explore Rolf Harris’s history concerning India’s most famous guru, the late, mega rich Sathya Sai Baba, who, although he died in disgraceful circumstances on 24 April 2012, still has a very wealthy and politically influential world-wide cult, despite his attracting for decades many allegations of serial sexual molestation of boys and young men.
Once the closest of all western followers of Sai Baba, David Bailey, the well-known British musician and, like myself, a former lecturer in Sai Baba’s education establishment, has told us about his visit along with Rolf Harris to the University of Leeds, some thirty years ago. Harris played the guitar and evangelized Sai Baba to a group of around thirty students. David has mentioned his irritation at the time that Harris insisted on a first class return fare from London. In the Sathya Sai Organization are many good and decent people, but very blind to the huge amount of evidence of these and other criminal abuses. Some of the major coverups – including murders in Sai Baba’s bedroom and the fabrication of miracles, misappropriation of funds raised internationally, water projects’ and apartments’ scandals, etc., – have been known to investigating journalists from e.g., the BBC (See the tv documentary The Secret Swami, 2004), DR – Danish Radio and Television, Seduced, and India Today, and other reputable media in various countries. …
I lectured for two years in Sai Baba’s elite college at Whitefield, South India, and in later years have been an international coördinator in surfacing in the best reputed international media some of the great many and terrible accounts of abuse survivors and many other profoundly grieving former devotees around the world, and in organising support networks in general.

Robert Priddy formerly led the official Sathya Sai Organisation in Norway, and, like a number of other outstanding leaders from many countries, Priddy left after careful investigation of the unending allegation of various forms of corruption and coverup (chiefly among Sai Baba’s leading servitors) in a cult that became increasingly authoritarian, and without serious standards of accountability, transparency and duty of care.
Many years ago, I heard various Sai Baba devotees say that Rolf Harris (who is a household name to Australians and Britons) was a Sai Baba devotee. More recently, he is to be seen on Youtube with the famous British jazz and blues singer Dana Gillespie, whom I myself once accompanied circa 1997 in bhajan singing on harmonium at Puttaparthi, where Sai Baba lived, and where Gillespie was well-known as a devotee. This Youtube clip specifically mentions Sai Baba when Harris and Gillespie and the other musicians repeatedly chant ‘Sai Rama’, a form in which devotees round the world link ‘Sai’ to Rama, given that they believe Sathya Sai Baba to be the final incarnation of Lord Rama (and Lord Krishna). The link states this event to have occurred live at Wembley Arena in 2000.
Naturally, guilt by association needs to be avoided – BUT in a world where pedophiles often work in clandestine rings and through multiple forms of networking, it is surely not too much to ask of serious investigators to look at any association between Rolf Harris and Sathya Sai Baba and any others around him against whom allegations of sexual abuse have been made, the latter considered by many worldwide who have left him because convinced by the trail of shattered lives within their former organisation, as an extraordinary formidable offender – like the late Sir Jimmy Savile.
